In the middle of the ocean, there is an island where the palace of a royal lady, Su Wang Moo, stands. Her title translates to Western Queen Mother in English. She is known for her generosity towards good people.

In the Queen’s palace, there are fruits that can prolong life. One such fruit is the celestial peach of longevity. The juice of this peach can rejuvenate an old person, enabling them to live hundreds of years longer. These peaches can only be acquired if the Queen herself gives them, and they are guarded by magical beings and dragons.

One day, the Queen sends an invitation to a virtuous prince to visit her. The prince’s mother warns him about the beautiful women in the Queen’s palace and the importance of proper etiquette. The Queen also warns the messenger princess about the possibility of the prince falling in love with her.

He tosses a peach to the maiden who catches it and takes a bite, which causes a golden mist to envelop the banquet hall.

The story then jumps forward a thousand years. A hermit, who is revered by the people, lives in the mountains. One day, he meets a young woman who claims to be the palace maid who served him a thousand years ago. She was banished for a thousand years for eating the peach and has been searching for the prince ever since. The hermit and the woman become young again, and they spend their time reminiscing about their past.

The Queen Mother learns about their reunion and sends a golden chariot to take them back to the palace. There, she orders them to be married, and they live happily ever after.
