한국에서 가장 흔한 새는 까치입니다. 수백만 마리의 까치가 매일 하늘을 가득 채우지만, 7월 7일만은 다릅니다. 그날에는 까치들이 특별한 역할을 수행하기 때문에 거리와 집에서는 까치를 볼 수 없습니다. 그날, 모든 까치는 하늘에서 바쁘게 일하며, 별들의 강, 즉 은하수를 가로질러 다리를 만듭니다. 그들은 날개를 케이블로 사용하고 머리를 다리 바닥으로 사용하여 은하수 양쪽의 연인들을 위한 길을 만듭니다.

In Korea, the most common bird is the magpie. Millions of magpies fill the sky every day, but July 7th is different. On that day, you cannot see magpies in the streets or at home because they perform a special role. That day, all magpies are busy in the sky, building a bridge across the river of stars, the Milky Way. They use their wings as cables and their heads as the bridge floor to create a path for lovers on both sides of the Milky Way.

어린이들은 보통 까치에게 매우 친절하지만, 8월 7일에 까치가 집 주변이나 거리에서 발견되면 그 까치는 큰 문제에 처하게 됩니다. 어린이들은 별빛나는 강을 가로질러 다리를 짓는 일을 하지 않은 까치에게 막대기나 돌을 던집니다. 하지만 저녁이 되면 까치들은 다리를 다 지은 후 평소의 장소로 돌아갑니다.

Children are usually very kind to magpies, but if a magpie is found near the house or in the street on August 7th, that magpie runs into big trouble. Children throw sticks or stones at magpies who did not build a bridge across the starlit river. However, when evening comes, the magpies return to their usual places after they have finished building the bridge.

She was devoted to making her husband’s life enjoyable.

However, the prince did not recognize his wife’s efforts. Instead, he wasted his wealth and became lazy. As his wealth diminished, he was in danger of losing his status as a prince. The king of the stars, seeing his son-in-law’s downfall, threatened to exclude him from the inheritance. But when his daughter pleaded for her husband, the king paid off his debt and gave him another chance. When the prince continued his wasteful ways, the king decided to separate them. He banished the prince and the princess to opposite sides of the heavenly river.

왕이 화가 났지만 그는 그들이 일년에 한 번 7월 7일 밤에 만나는 것을 허락했습니다. 6개월 동안의 여행 후 그들은 별빛나는 강의 가장자리에 도착했지만 그들은 건널 수 없었습니다. 그들이 건널 수 없다는 것을 깨닫고 그들은 그렇게 많이 울었더니 그들의 눈물이 아래의 땅을 덮었습니다.

The king was angry, but he allowed them to meet once a year on the night of July 7th. After a six-month journey, they arrived at the edge of the starlit river, but they could not cross it. Realizing that they couldn’t cross, they cried so much that their tears covered the land below.

The animals decided to help them. The strong and high-flying magpies were chosen to take on this task. The magpies agreed to help and built a bridge across the starlit river. They used their heads as the floor and their wings to support the bridge. The prince crossed the bridge and met the bride.

매년 7월 7일에 까치들은 이 다리를 짓습니다. 까치 왕국에서는 어떤 새도 이 일을 피할 수 없는 법입니다. 게으르거나 복종하지 않는 까치는 한국 아이들에게 쫓겨납니다. 이는 모든 소녀가 별 공주처럼 성실하게 되기를 바라고 모든 소년이 매년 별의 강 빛나는 해변에서 신부를 만나는 왕자처럼 충실하게 되기를 바라기 때문입니다.

Every year on July 7th, the magpies build this bridge. In the kingdom of magpies, no bird can avoid this task. Lazy or disobedient magpies are chased away by Korean children. This is because they hope that every girl will become as diligent as the star princess and every boy will be as faithful as the prince who meets his bride on the shining beach of the star river every year.
